About The Position

The Flatbed CNC Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the CNC flatbed laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality metal parts according to engineering drawings and production schedules. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to produce quality parts while maintaining production efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • MSOffice experience.
  • 1 year of CNC experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication skills.
  • Experience with inventory control software.
  • Forklift operator experience.
  • Ability to work with different individuals as a team.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness and safety in the workplace.
  • Ability to adhere to schedule and follow attendance policy.
  • Will be required to complete internal forklift certification.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and quality procedures.
  • Sets up and operates CNC flatbed laser machine to cut various gauge stainless steel parts.
  • Transfers material from inventory to supply the machine.
  • Must be very detail oriented and disciplined to request the correct materials and record all inventory transfers accurately.
  • Load and unload pallets of material using forklifts (must be forklift certified through our internal training).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings.
  • Verify material type, thickness, and job specifications before production.
  • Perform machine setup, including nozzle changes, lens cleaning, focus adjustments, and program selection.
  • Monitor cutting operations and make adjustments to ensure part quality and production efficiency.
  • Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, angle finders, and gauges.
  • Remove cut parts, sort, organize, re-stock cut parts, and prepare materials for the next manufacturing process.
  • Uses hand tools and portable power tools to trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of metal parts.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and notify maintenance or supervision when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation.
  • Keep work area clean and organized following 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with other production duties as assigned.
  • Seeks to improve production changeovers and reduce machine downtime.
  • Loads and unloads items from machines, carts, and dollies.
  • Operates overhead cranes, jib boom cranes, and other rigging equipment.
