About The Position

The Machine Operator C sets up and operates assigned machine tools to perform diversified machining operations and related tasks under close supervision. The role involves interpreting blueprints and processes, performing machining operations, using precision measuring tools and gauges to verify specifications, and operating multiple machines when production cycles permit. The position is primarily in a production setting and is fully onsite.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to learn basic mechanical principles and expand into areas of greater responsibility.
• Must be capable of being certified as a forklift driver.
• Ability to perform varied machine setup and operation tasks under close supervision.
• Ability to work from simple blueprints and job specifications, including setting up machines, selecting feeds and speeds, determining operation sequences, installing tooling and attachments, and adjusting stops and attachments.
• Limited experience and some knowledge of machining technology, mathematics, tooling applications, and machining characteristics of materials.
• Organizational skills to maintain an orderly and clean work area.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and moving materials and frequent reaching, handling, and feeling.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and processes to plan machine setup and operation.
• Perform machining operations including facing, turning, boring, drilling, chucking, reaming, grooving, undercutting, broaching, keyway cutting, honing, tapering, grinding, tapping, thread cutting, lapping, shaping, and other operations.
• Use precision measuring tools and gauges to ensure parts meet print specifications.
• Operate two or more machines when time cycles permit and check work to maintain quality.
• Operate gear cutters, automatic and semi-automatic machine tools, and other machine tools with machine-controlled work cycles as assigned.
• Load and unload machines.
• Perform surface grinding operations when assigned.
• Maintain an orderly and clean work area and prioritize safety and compliance with regulations.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
