About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Bindery Operator 3 to oversee finishing processes, operate complex machinery, train junior staff, and troubleshoot equipment issues to meet production deadlines. This role involves setting up, adjusting, and operating complex bindery machines, diagnosing and resolving operating and mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, monitoring production for quality control, directing crew activities, training junior operators, interpreting job orders, planning operations, and documenting production data while following safety protocols.

Requirements

Typically 3-5+ years in bindery operations, with experience in complex projects or leadership.
Expertise in bindery equipment setup, procedures, capabilities, and limitations, including knowledge of paper types.
Strong mechanical skills for making complex machine adjustments.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds (occasionally 75), and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, and operate complex bindery machines such as perfect binders, cutters, folders, collators, and stitchers.
Diagnose and resolve complex operating and mechanical issues, perform routine maintenance, and minimize downtime.
Monitor production, ensure quality control, and conduct final inspections.
Direct crew activities, train junior operators, and ensure safety and efficiency.
Interpret job orders, plan operations, and coordinate with other departments to meet schedules.
Document production data, maintain records, and follow safety protocols.
