About The Position

Smartpress is a fast-growing online printing service looking for enthusiastic and experienced Bindery Operators for one or more of the following machines: Perfect Binder, Stitcher, Folder, Cutter. You’ll be part of a talented group that collaborates to deliver world-class products to our customers. This role will handle small format products that require bindery work before they are packed and shipped to the client. The Bernard Group is a 1,000-person visual merchandising company that is 100% employee-owned. This is a full-time position in Chanhassen, MN.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • A two-year Technical or Trade School diploma
  • Three years’ experience as a bindery operator, cutter, folder or booklet maker
  • Worked in a manufacturing environment for 2-5 years
  • Worked in a fast-paced mid-size company
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Possess a thorough and organized approach to your work
  • Pay close attention to details on every project
  • Basic computer skills, including Pace and Google Suite
  • Be self-motivated, a fast learner, and show initiative to seek out customer and corporate needs
  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage your work
  • Complete projects accurately within deadlines, while meeting Company quality standards
  • Apply effective time management and self-management skills
  • Understand and maintain the confidential nature of the company, employee and customer information
  • Be flexible to change
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills including, demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization

Responsibilities

  • Complete the job successfully and provide a quality product the customer will want to order again
  • Run the bindery equipment in a small format capacity
  • Run existing bindery equipment and be open to learning how to run new equipment
  • Troubleshoot production problems to ensure productivity and quality standards are met
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) procedures to meet Company standards
  • Perform basic maintenance of the bindery machines
  • Complete miscellaneous projects and various tasks as requested by management
