About The Position

As a Machine Operator Apprentice at RAM Machine Products, you will play a key role in the manufacturing process, ensuring the precision and quality of machine components through the operation of Mori Seiki turret lathe CNC machines. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining strict quality and safety standards. You will be responsible for producing parts that meet exact specifications, adhering closely to engineering drawings and defined tolerances. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in a metal fabricating environment with knowledge of machining.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, thread gauges)
  • Basic knowledge of metals and alloys
  • Strong math skills, including arithmetic and geometry
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, climb, push, and pull as needed
  • Prolonged standing and/or walking throughout the shift
  • Frequent handling of materials weighing 10–50+ pounds
  • Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise)
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments, calipers & micrometers to gage parts.
  • Learn to properly start, stop, load and maintain the machine while in operation.
  • Learn to change, sharpen and adjust tooling to ensure quality parts consistently.
  • Set up, configure, and operate Mori Seiki turret lathe CNC machine to produce precision components
  • Load, align, and securely position materials for machining operations
  • Select, install, and adjust cutting tools based on material type and job specifications
  • Monitor tool performance and wear; perform timely tool changes to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications and tolerances
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, thread gauges) to verify dimensions
  • Input, modify, and optimize CNC programs, including editing G-code (FANUC or similar controls)
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to determine machining methods and sequence of operations
  • Collaborate with production team members to meet scheduling and delivery requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, equipment malfunctions, and programming errors
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of machine settings, production data, tool usage, and any issues encountered
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, efficiency, and overall productivity
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management, including tasks outside of standard responsibilities when needed
