About The Position

The role of the Machine A Operator is a key support position for the production department. This individual must be self-motivated and willing to learn next level shift supervisor duties and responsibilities. They will need to communicate clearly and regularly with the shift quality technician(s), shift supervisor, and co-workers and assist in the optimization of the production process. Attention to safety, product quality, productivity, and housekeeping are critical to the success of the individual’s performance in this position. This role is an integral part to the department’s success.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years successful employment in positions requiring visual attention to detail during repetitive physical activity in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive proven knowledge of diverse machinery and measurement tools
  • Understanding of production processes
  • Manual dexterity
  • Visual ability to perform detailed machine and product inspection
  • Continued attention to detail in fast-paced, repetitive, working environment
  • Ability to lift approximately 1-10 pounds approximately 5-20 times per hour
  • Extensive standing while performing duties as required
  • Diligence to manage time effectively
  • Technical skills, including but not limited to interpreting product specifications
  • Use of measuring and mechanical tools
  • Math skills, including but not limited to calculating material and packaging required and reading Statistical Process Control (SPC) quality graphs.
  • Mechanical skills, including but not limited to using power hand tools, and assembly, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair skills

Responsibilities

  • Set up machines to start a product cycle
  • Control and adjust machine settings
  • Inspect machined parts and components with precision and measuring tools
  • Maintain optimum visual and dimensional product quality of production on assigned machines through continuous measurement and visual inspection of ware
  • Check output to identify and machine-related problems or flaws
  • In-process inspections of machine-related problems or flaws
  • Communicate machine operation and product non-conformities
  • Maintain requested Statistical Process Control (SPC) information on assigned lines
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data collection entry, and appropriate machine adjustments.
  • Perform machine adjustments in order to optimize machine performance and product quality, and correct problems that might occur during shift
  • Perform timely and effective machine changeovers while minimizing production downtime and product quality losses
  • Ensure machines are loaded as required.
  • Maintain activity logs and records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Support other machine operators as required or requested
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations

  • Work diligently both alone and as part of a group
  • Help where necessary on other jobs as assigned
