This Machine Operator 4 role is in the Packaging Department and is a Full-Time position located at Carol Stram. The Machine Operator 4 (Packaging) is responsible for coordinating daily dry powder packaging operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production while leading packaging line personnel. This role serves as the technical expert for packaging equipment, supports troubleshooting and continuous improvement, coordinates changeovers, and ensures production targets, quality standards, and labor efficiencies are achieved.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required
  • 2+ year mixing experience in food manufacturing
  • Must be able to follow precise instructions and observe good manufacturing practices.
  • Must be familiar with or able to learn metric system, which is used in the manufacture of Vitamin products.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily dry powder packaging operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production aligned with quality and output targets.
  • Provide direction for packaging line personnel, optimizing staffing, throughput, and labor utilization.
  • Operate, set up, troubleshoot, and optimize packaging equipment (auger fillers, bagging systems, pouch fillers, checkweighers, metal detectors, sealing, labeling, and coding systems).
  • Manage line startups, shutdowns, product changeovers, and line clearance activities.
  • Monitor production performance; identify issues and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance and engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, FDA, OSHA, and company quality and safety standards.
  • Perform and verify in-process quality checks, including batch records, lot codes, labeling, and packaging specifications.
  • Analyze downtime, waste, and inefficiencies; drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, OEE).
  • Train and coach operators on safety, SOPs, equipment operation, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Complete and review production documentation (batch records, downtime logs, inventory adjustments, and reports) accurately and on time.
  • Perform inventory control activities, including cycle counts and material verification.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure proper sanitation of equipment and production spaces.
  • Support audits, inspections, CAPA activities, and root cause investigations.
  • Operate material handling equipment and assist with packaging, labeling, palletizing, and shipment preparation as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including flexible scheduling and overtime as required.
