About The Position

The Machine Operator 3 role in the Shipping & Receiving Department is responsible for safely receiving, unloading, storing, and staging glass products along with and raw materials to support plant operations and customer deliveries along with preparation of products and loading of delivery trucks. This role is ideal for an individual with advanced material handling experience, strong attention to detail, proven safety awareness, and the ability to operate overhead cranes and other heavy equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing, shipping and receiving, warehouse, or material handling experience required
  • Ability to safely handle large glass products and materials in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, shipping documents, receiving paperwork, and inventory records
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and maintain accurate inventory documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify and report equipment issues
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Punctual with excellent attendance and dependability
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as business needs require
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, or similar heavy material handling equipment preferred
  • Experience operating a 5½-ton overhead crane in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Previous experience in glass manufacturing, shipping and receiving, or inventory control operations
  • Forklift certification or experience preferred
  • Knowledge of safe rigging, lifting, and material handling practices
  • Experience using inventory management and warehouse tracking systems
  • Experience working in a production-driven environment with safety, quality, and productivity expectations

Responsibilities

  • Operate a 5½-ton overhead crane to safely unload incoming glass shipments and place into storage racks
  • Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, damage, and compliance with purchase orders and shipping documentation
  • Store glass products and materials in designated secured storage areas while maintaining proper organization and inventory control
  • Retrieve, stage, and prepare glass for production and customer shipment based on production schedules and shipping requirements
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed to support shipping and receiving operations
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipment documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, and receiving records
  • Safely handle glass products using established procedures to prevent product damage and ensure employee safety
  • Perform routine inspections of overhead cranes, lifting devices, and material handling equipment prior to operation
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through scanning, labeling, and documentation of received and stored materials
  • Coordinate with production, shipping, and quality teams to ensure materials are available to meet operational and customer requirements
  • Identify and report damaged materials, inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, and safety concerns to department leadership
  • Assist with loading outbound shipments to ensure products are properly secured and meet customer specifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping standards and safety requirements
  • Support inventory counts, material audits, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, quality standards, and established operating procedures
  • Assist in other production and warehouse areas and perform additional duties as assigned to support overall plant operations
