About The Position

Rockwell Automation is seeking a full-time Machine Operator 2 for the 3rd Shift. This role is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of automatic or semi-automatic machines in the production of the company's products. The operator will work from process sheets or written/verbal instructions, checking and inspecting operations against predetermined tolerances. This position involves working with Surface Mount Technologies, electronically-controlled processes, components, and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts. Key responsibilities include interacting with machines, selecting solder, wave soldering, conformal coating, setting up and operating multiple machines and workstations simultaneously, performing first-line inspection of boards, troubleshooting equipment failures, and managing production documentation. The role also includes preparing reels and feeders for SMT machines, burning firmware programs, creating and applying labels, making setups and adjustments to meet print specifications, and operating optical inspection machines for board repair. Overtime is an essential function of this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Responsibilities

  • Uses documented work instructions with schematics and manufacturing execution systems on semi-routine assignments at a variety of workstations.
  • Works with little direction and uses judgment to recognize the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
  • Works with Surface Mount Technologies and other electronically-controlled processes, components and full Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts for final product creation.
  • Interacts with machines, selects solder, wave solder, and conformal coat.
  • Sets up and operates multiple machines and workstations at once.
  • Acts as an SMT Operator, picks parts, sets up jobs per pic list, and runs the lines requiring 5 pieces of equipment at once.
  • Performs first line of inspection for all boards to ensure they are being built properly.
  • Works with techs and team leads to troubleshoot equipment failures.
  • Cans and links information to jobs.
  • Prepares reels and feeders for use on surface mount technology (SMT) machines.
  • Counts materials and moves to production line.
  • Burns firmware programs into electronic components using programming machines.
  • Creates and applies labels onto PCBs (manually and/or automated).
  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to print specifications.
  • Operates optical inspection machine and performs visual classification and repair of rejected boards.
