About The Position

This is an entry-level position for a Machine Operator 1. The role involves adhering to engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental procedures. The operator will learn to perform machine setups on various machines including manual and CNC lathes and mills, as well as waterjet machines. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and using standard measuring tools. The position requires maintaining a clean work area, following safety regulations, and demonstrating professionalism and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to use handheld measuring tools accurately.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (or willingness to learn).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior machining or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with CNC machinery is a plus.
  • Basic CNC program knowledge (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental procedures.
  • Learn to perform machine setups on manual lathes, manual mills, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and waterjet machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required per the company Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) Program.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for all processes and programs.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Use standard measuring tools including micrometers (O.D. & I.D.), calipers, bore gages, protractors, height gages, and depth gages.
  • Develop knowledge of machine safety practices, job orders, calibration requirements, and basic CNC program knowledge.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow all prescribed safety regulations.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, being at the workstation ready at the start of the shift and remaining on the job until the end of the shift.
  • Assist other departments as necessary with management approval.
  • Demonstrate respect, courtesy, and professionalism toward customers and employees.
  • Participate as an integral member of the team.
