About The Position

This role is responsible for overall line operations from production to packaging, including starting and stopping machines, performing parison controls, and making minor process adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency. The Machine Operator II monitors material control, performs regular quality control checks, and prepares the machine for mold changes. They also handle speed and cycle time adjustments, troubleshoot issues, and ensure goods are produced according to specifications. Accurate recording of production and encountered problems is essential. The role involves performing color and material changes, autonomous maintenance, and providing direction and training to other operators. This position also covers for the Shift Supervisor when needed and assists with mold/color changes. Teamwork and maintaining good housekeeping are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1.5 years of experience as an ALPLA Machine Operator I or at least 3 years equivalent outside experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • It is required to act in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times by adhering to all ALPLA policies and procedures and Safety Standards (OSHA).

Responsibilities

  • Overall line responsibility from production to packaging
  • Start / Stop the machine
  • Performs parison controls
  • Makes minor process adjustments to ensure good quality and efficiency
  • Monitors Material control (weight distribution, regrind levels, watch tail lengths, etc)
  • Performs regular quality control throughout the shift and visual quality checks
  • Prepares the machine for a mold change
  • Changing speed and cycle times
  • Troubleshooting
  • Ensure goods are produced in the correct quantity and in accordance with agreed specifications
  • Accurately records goods produced and problems encountered during shift
  • Performs color changes and material changes
  • Performs autonomous maintenance activities
  • Provides directions to Packaging Operators and Machine Operators I, as needed
  • Develops Machine Operator I by providing and supporting training activities
  • Covers for the Shift Supervisor when needed
  • Assist the Supervisor or the Mold Change Team with mold/color changes as needed
  • Working together in a Team
