Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Machine Learning Software Developer to contribute to research and development efforts focused on deriving knowledge from sensor networks and maturing Large Language Model (LLM)-driven agents to augment analytical capabilities. This role is programmatically within Global Security’s Nuclear Thread Reduction (N) Program and administratively within the Global Security Computing Applications Division (GS-CAD) of the Computing Directorate. The position can be filled at either the SES.1 or SES.2 level, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Additional responsibilities are assigned at the higher SES.2 level. The role involves developing software applications using object-oriented techniques in Python, providing computer science, machine learning, or software development support to multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to LLM-centric applications. Responsibilities include participation in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements definition to optimization, on Windows and/or UNIX platforms. At the SES.2 level, the role requires independent work across the software development lifecycle, providing solutions to complex problems, and ensuring alignment with project requirements and technical standards.
