About The Position

Snap Inc.’s Generative ML Platform team builds AI technologies for creative, scalable experiences across Snapchat. The team works across multimodal large language models, video generation, real-time augmented reality, human understanding, and 3D content creation, developing foundational models, efficient infrastructure, and on-device and server-side inference. It also creates tools, platforms, and agentic systems for creators, developers, and internal teams, and advances personalized experiences across mobile, web, and wearable devices.

The Machine Learning Engineer will develop generative machine learning technology and products, build generative pipelines and augmented reality experiences, deliver on-device experiences, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore and prototype products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, mathematics, or statistics, or equivalent years of experience.
• At least 3 years of post-Bachelor’s machine learning experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field and at least 2 years of post-graduate machine learning experience; or a PhD in a relevant technical field.
• Research or engineering experience in generative models, efficient models, diffusion models, language models, or related machine learning applications.
• Strong software development skills in Python or C++.
• Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of mathematics and deep learning foundations.
• Ability to solve open-ended, ambiguous problems, work independently, collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners, and support others’ learning.
• Passion for machine learning, including staying current with research and prototyping ideas quickly.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree or PhD in a related technical field.
• Experience developing real-time software for mobile applications.
• Knowledge of generative AI foundations, especially image, video, language, and audio generation.
• Knowledge of efficient model foundations.
• Track record of successful projects in generative AI.
• Examples of work such as open-source projects, blog posts, Kaggle contests, or top conference or journal publications.
