About The Position

The team at Advanced Space is leading humanity back to the Moon and pioneering innovative solutions in the space industry. Based in Westminster Colorado, this incredible team is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer with 0-2 years of experience, who’s eager to push the state of the art in the aerospace industry. ML Engineers at Advanced Space work closely with engineers in other disciplines (i.e., navigation, mission design, systems). This position is responsible for designing, building, and testing machine learning models and systems that can solve real-world problems in domains such as spacecraft autonomy, anomaly detection and classification, natural language processing, uncertainty quantification, and multi-modal signal detection & characterization. This position will be headquartered at our Westminster, Colorado offices and is primarily an on-premise position. Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another physical science or engineering discipline or equivalent work experience required.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with the basics of neural networks and other relevant machine learning techniques
  • Knowledge of basic coding, debugging, and algorithmic principles
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Understanding of basic data preprocessing and feature engineering concepts
  • Applicants must be a US person
  • Ability to work in the Westminster, CO office 5 days/week during core business hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or PhD preferred.
  • Proficient in an engineering field (aerospace or another)
  • Familiarity with Pytorch, JAX or TensorFlow
  • Confident in deploying a model to a server or edge device
  • Security clearance is not required but is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Uses AI coding assistants for code completion and debugging help
  • Can write basic prompts to get useful responses
  • Solid grasp of probability theory and basic statistics
  • Understands gradient descent and basic optimization concepts
  • Uses version control consistently for all code
  • Documents experiment parameters and results systematically
  • May or may not have any aerospace experience
  • May or may not have any other engineering or science experience
  • Limited familiarity with industry tools and best practices
  • Follows company coding standards and processes
  • Able to use web resources to find what they need
  • Delivers reliable and maintainable code for defined tasks
  • Breaks down moderately complex problems into manageable components and systematically addresses each element
  • Owns assigned tasks from start to completion, ensuring quality and accuracy of deliverables
  • Consistently acts with honesty and transparency in technical work, communications, and interpersonal interactions
  • Builds productive relationships with team members and internal stakeholders to support effective collaboration
