About The Position

Cloudflare is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Intern for Summer 2026 to join their Austin team. The intern will work on building and operating pipelines for AI-driven applications, Agents, and Chatbots that support various company teams, including go-to-market, engineering, and product. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced data scientists and machine learning engineers on real-world AI development challenges. The internship is scheduled for 12 weeks, with potential start dates between June 8 and June 22, and end dates between August 28 and September 11. The position requires in-office presence 3-5 days a week in Austin, TX. Requirements

B.S. or M.S in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields
Experience working with programming languages such as Python, Go or Javascript.
Strong software engineering mindset, proficiency in shell scripts, CLI utilities, and version control with git.
Knowledge of AI agents, inference-time optimization, LLM evaluations.
Excellent communication & problem solving skills.
Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams and work through ambiguous business requirements.
Ability to commit to a 12 week summer internship.
In office 3-5 days a week in Austin, TX.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with container based deployments such as Docker & Kubernetes in cloud.
Experience with AI-assisted coding, building with cloudflare developer platform.

Responsibilities

Deploy, monitor & support ML Applications & Services on Kubernetes in cloud.
Understand MLOps landscape i.e tooling, tech stack, source systems etc. and work on new tools and solutions for ML & AI initiatives.
Partner and align with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and internal teams to deliver ML solutions in a globally distributed environment.
Leverage Cloudflare products and services for AI & ML initiatives and applications.
Use software engineering best practices to publish model scores/insights/learnings at scale within the company.
