About The Position

Machine learning is a key initiative for Bed Bath & Beyond as we strive to help our customers find great deals on furniture, décor, and other items to make every home a dream home. This position is eligible for remote work. Currently we can hire employees in the following states: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. This role will have occasional on site expectations.

Requirements

• Minimum three years of professional software development experience.
• Strong coding skills, including proficiency in Java, Python, and SQL.
• Ability to design and build highly performant and scalable systems.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills. You have basic familiarity with techniques in machine learning, analytics and/or related fields.
• Excellent collaborator and communicator and are eager to learn and grow!

Nice To Haves

• Experience with webservice development.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop/Spark.
• Experience with informational retrieval technologies such as search engines and recommendation systems.
• Experience building batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Experience in data mining, learning to rank, deep learning, natural language processing, machine learning, and/or related fields.
• Proficiency with unit, integration, and performance testing.
• Reasonable overlap with the following relevant technologies and processes: Java, Python, Google Cloud Platform, Hadoop, SQL, Kafka, Beam, Tensorflow, Keras, Torch, CUDA, Kubernetes, Docker, Airflow, Linux, bash, Redis, Cassandra, RDBMS, Bigtable, HBase, Solr, Continuous Integration, Performance testing and troubleshooting.
• Strong desire to collaborate and develop new technologies.
• Willingness to learn new tools and flexibility to adapt to different deployment pipelines
• Strong communication abilities and willingness to lead and inspire other engineers

Responsibilities

• Build the webservices, data pipelines, and software infrastructure required to develop and deploy machine learning functionality to the production website.
• Assist in the design and implementation of core machine learning algorithms used by product teams, including: Search ranking, sponsored products ads, advertising technologies, recommendations, personalization, marketing
• Perform other duties as required and assigned by manager and upper management.
