About The Position

Avalore, LLC is seeking a Machine Learning and Python Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support advanced data analytics, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning initiatives for US Government customers. The role develops, evaluates, and optimizes machine learning models using Python, deep learning frameworks, and modern NLP techniques. It applies statistical analysis, data engineering, and performance measurement methodologies to turn complex datasets into actionable insights, support data-driven decision-making, and communicate technical findings and recommendations to senior leadership.

The position conducts advanced statistical analysis on personnel, intelligence, and performance metrics; supports research methodology selection or development; and helps define measures, collect and analyze data, and present results. It also analyzes information and communicates research findings in an accessible manner to customers and other consumers.

Requirements

• Active security clearance with appropriate polygraph.
• Professional or academic experience performing NLP tasks, including selecting suitable Python libraries, choosing preprocessing actions, performing analysis, and assessing model performance.
• Professional or academic experience using Python NLP packages such as spaCy, Gensim, or NLTK to analyze or process document collections.
• Professional or academic experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
• Professional or academic experience with the Hugging Face Transformers library and hub.
• Experience creating Python machine learning models for text classification and topic modeling using Scikit-learn or deep learning models.
• Academic or professional experience using encoder-decoder and generative language models for NLP tasks.
• Academic or professional experience communicating methodological choices and model results.
• Professional or academic experience and proficiency with SQL, including common table expressions, set operations, aggregate functions, and nested subqueries.
• Professional or academic experience with version control systems such as GitHub and Jenkins.
• Experience leveraging GPUs for accelerated computing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience writing Python scripts that retrieve data from web-based APIs and relational databases.
• Experience with cloud computing development and architecture.
• Experience with front-end web development frameworks such as Flask.
• Experience developing applications for semantic search.
• Experience tuning LLMs on custom datasets and applying results to specific use cases.
• Professional or academic experience and proficiency with Tableau for producing visualizations and dashboards.

Responsibilities
