Travel up to 20% of the time may be required. Travel may include domestic and/or international customer, supplier, and JR Automation locations. We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder with strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding fit, finish, and high-precision assembly. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling custom automated machinery from the ground up. This includes mechanical assembly, system integration, testing, and assisting with installation as needed. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craftsmanship, demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills, and thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced engineering environment. Entry-level candidates may be considered.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Proven experience as a Machine Builder, Mechanical Assembler, or in a related role within automation or machinery manufacturing is highly preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on quality, alignment, and overall craftsmanship
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, CAD prints, and assembly documentation
  • Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and mechanical assembly equipment
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, linear motion components, and industrial hardware
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring or panel wiring, or a willingness to learn, is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and adapt in a custom-build environment
  • Prior JR Automation experience or experience within the automation industry is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble custom automation equipment according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Perform precision mechanical assembly while ensuring exceptional fit and finish
  • Assist with machine debugging, testing, and validation
  • Work closely with engineering teams to resolve build challenges and improve designs
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe workplace
  • Support machine installation and commissioning at customer sites as needed.
