About The Position

This role involves assisting machine operators in a manufacturing environment, specifically with a gluer machine. The Machine Assistant Operator is responsible for supporting machine setup, monitoring product quality, ensuring proper stacking of finished goods, and maximizing equipment utilization. The position also includes training helpers, completing production reports, and proactively participating in equipment maintenance. Adherence to the production schedule, collaboration with crew members, and maintaining safety and housekeeping standards are crucial. The role may require switching duties with other crew members and performing other assigned tasks. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.
  • Ability to work within a team, effectively communicating with members, and work independently.
  • Ability to follow instruction and execute written and verbal instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in folding/gluing machine work.
  • Prior experience working as a crew member on a machine crew.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with machine set-up in accordance with proper setup techniques.
  • Monitor box quality, including loose liner, scoring, folding, print, and glue application, and communicate quality issues.
  • Ensure finished boxes are properly stacked for unitizing and/or palletizing.
  • Understand and follow instructions on factory cards and from the operator.
  • Maximize equipment utilization by assisting the operator to run machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Assist with training helper(s) on machine job duties.
  • Complete necessary reports accurately and timely (Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Lean Enterprise and Quality Data).
  • Turn in maintenance work orders for needed repairs and be proactive in equipment maintenance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Adhere to the production schedule and make recommendations for optimization.
  • Report any unusual scheduling issues to the Supervisor.
  • Work with crew members for maximum efficiency.
  • Switch duties with other crew members, including operating, feeding, pulling, stacking, and packing, as required.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and work rules, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness.
