About The Position

Oakwood Veneer Company is hiring a full-time Machine & Facilities Repair Technician for our manufacturing operations in Troy, Michigan, with occasional facility support in Berkley, MI. This is a first-shift, day shift position working approximately 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, offering stable hours and long-term opportunity in a hands-on industrial environment. We operate in a very stable industry with no layoffs in over 40 years of business, providing long-term job security. We are seeking a highly mechanically inclined industrial maintenance technician with experience in machine repair, preventative maintenance, and facility maintenance, particularly in environments involving pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and electrical schematics. Requirements

  • Experience in industrial maintenance, machine maintenance, facilities maintenance, or equipment repair.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and reading electrical schematics.
  • Comfortable working independently, prioritizing maintenance tasks, and handling a wide range of repair responsibilities.
  • Physically active role requiring standing, walking, use of tools, and the ability to lift up to approximately 60 lbs.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair on approximately 15 large production machines, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues involving mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Responsible for facility maintenance and repair across multiple buildings, including light plumbing, light electrical work, and coordination of HVAC systems with outside vendors.
  • Equipment installation, relocation, and upgrades.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Take ownership of both machine performance and facility operations.
