About The Position

Maintain district wide HVAC and low temperature refrigeration equipment in order to provide a quality building environment for students, staff, and community.

Requirements

  • College hours, high school diploma or GED
  • Texas Driver’s License
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in commercial HVAC and building automation systems
  • Knowledge and skill required to operate and repair all equipment associated with HVAC and low temperature refrigeration maintenance
  • EPA certification I and II (Universal certification preferred)
  • Texas State Contractors License Type B or ability to obtain within six months of hire date
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal English

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of HVAC, Building Automation Systems and refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, Building Automation Systems and refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform repairs and/or new installation as requested on approved work order.
  • Recommend when refrigeration assistance should be obtained from outside source.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and district-owned tools, equipment and materials including maintaining coolant dispensing records.
  • Respond to emergency calls and make repairs as necessary throughout duration of work shift.
  • Receive and complete work orders; maintain accurate records on material and labor used to complete work orders.
  • Plan out work daily and perform work independently as needed with minimal supervision.
  • Supports troubleshooting and resolution of inconsistencies in the functions or sequence of operations with the Building Automation System.
  • Report problems to HVAC Supervisor and Building Automation Systems Coordinator.
  • Assist the Building Automation Coordinator with night and weekend audits to systems operating outside of parameters to maintain the most cost-effective use of HVAC energy.
  • Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe work conditions and safety hazards in a building and promptly report to supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with campus staff, administration and other departments daily.
