About The Position

The MA or LPN at Marshall Family Medicine prepares patients for physician examinations, collects and screens patient information, and provides clinical support within the scope of the applicable role. The position administers prescribed medications and treatments within licensed practical nursing standards, assists physicians with examinations and procedures, and handles patient inquiries as directed by the physician. It also supports clinical-area readiness, including maintaining supplies and cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments.

Requirements

• Graduate of a medical assistant program or school of nursing.
• MA candidates must be able to obtain certification.
• Prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and prepare them for physician examinations.
• Screen patients for appropriate information.
• Instruct patients in collecting samples and completing tests.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with licensed practical nursing standards and scope of practice.
• Maintain and prepare equipment and assist physicians during patient treatment, examinations, and testing.
• Handle telephone inquiries from patients about test results, medications, and treatment instructions as directed by the physician.
• Arrange hospitalization, referrals, or special procedures for patients.
• Maintain a clean, attractive work area and keep clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies.
• Clean and sterilize medical instruments, surgical trays, and related items.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
