This position prepares and rooms patients for examination by obtaining vital signs and documenting pertinent health information. The MA/LPN performs laboratory procedures, assists physicians with procedures and surgeries, and administers medications under physician orders. The role also involves initiating and maintaining IV therapy, providing basic patient education, and following through with necessary requests such as prescription refills and referrals. The MA/LPN communicates with physicians and the healthcare team, documenting patient conditions accurately. Advanced clinical tasks like suture removal, catheterization, EKGs, and complex wound care may be performed after demonstrating competency. The role includes organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. Patient positioning and transporting duties require lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. Routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment are also part of the responsibilities. The MA/LPN participates in patient-centered initiatives, care management, and performance improvement activities. The role requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
