About The Position

The M365 Digital Workplace Solutions Engineer is responsible for designing, building, governing, and optimizing Project HOPE’s digital workplace ecosystem—including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform, Viva, and Microsoft 365 Copilot—to support a secure, intuitive, and collaborative experience for a global workforce. This is a hands‑on engineering role that combines solution delivery with platform governance, security, analytics, and lifecycle management. The role also plays a critical part in enabling staff, programs, and operational teams to build digital capability, responsibly adopt automation and AI, and leverage data‑driven insights in support of Project HOPE’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Digital Workplace Technologies, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience administering Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform).
  • Strong understanding of M365 governance (permissions, site structures, metadata, retention, sharing policies).
  • Experience building workflows, automation, or forms using Power Automate or Power Apps.
  • Experience supporting end-user adoption, training, and digital literacy.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security and identity principles (MFA, conditional access, RBAC).

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft 365 certifications (MS-900, MS-700, PL-900, PL-100, or PL-200).
  • Experience leading large-scale SharePoint migrations or intranet redesigns.
  • Experience implementing Microsoft 365 Copilot or AI-enhanced workplace tools.
  • Familiarity with governance and management tools such as ShareGate, Purview, or M365 Admin Center.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell).
  • Experience developing Power Platform governance strategies, including environments, connectors, and ALM.
  • Experience working in global or distributed organizations with varied levels of digital literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, configuration, and ongoing evolution of Project HOPE’s digital workplace platforms to ensure a consistent, secure, and user centered experience.
  • Establish and enforce standards, patterns, and governance for core digital workplace services, including: SharePoint intranet and collaboration sites, Microsoft Teams collaboration framework, OneDrive usage and information management, Power Apps and Power Automate Environments, Microsoft Viva suite (Connections, Insights, Engage, Learning), Microsoft 365 Copilot deployment and usage.
  • Serve as the technical authority for digital workplace platform decisions, balancing usability, security, and scalability across a global organization.
  • Lead the technical design and evolution of Project HOPE’s global intranet and knowledge management ecosystem.
  • Define and implement information architecture standards, including taxonomy, metadata models, page templates, and hub structures.
  • Establish content lifecycle management practices that ensure information is accurate, discoverable, secure, and appropriately governed over time.
  • Partner with communications, programs, and business teams to ensure the intranet supports operational needs, collaboration, and institutional knowledge sharing.
  • Design, implement, and govern Project HOPE’s automation and low code ecosystem using Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot capabilities.
  • Define and enforce platform guardrails, including: Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, Environment strategy (development, testing, production), Solution lifecycle management (ALM) practices.
  • Partner with departments to identify, design, and deliver secure, scalable automation that replaces manual or fragmented workflows.
  • Enable responsible and effective use of AI enhanced capabilities, ensuring solutions align with governance, security, and ethical standards.
  • Embed security, privacy, and compliance controls into the design and operation of digital workplace and automation solutions.
  • Implement and manage identity, access, and information protection controls, including: Sensitivity labels and data classification, Conditional access and identity governance workflows, External sharing policies, Microsoft 365 activity monitoring and audit capabilities.
  • Partner with security, legal, and compliance stakeholders to ensure digital workplace platforms support organizational policies, donor requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Design for resilience by identifying risks, monitoring platform health, and proactively addressing vulnerabilities or misuse.
  • Design and deliver analytics and performance insights using Microsoft 365 and Power Platform capabilities to support digital workplace optimization, operational excellence, and program performance.
  • Leverage Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, and connected data sources to analyze and visualize insights across Microsoft 365, enterprise systems, and program data.
  • Monitor adoption, usage, automation impact, and capacity trends across digital workplace tools and other supported systems to identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and insight products that support: Digital adoption and platform health, Operational efficiency and workflow performance, Program delivery, performance indicators, and impact outcomes (where applicable).
  • Partner with IT, program teams, and business stakeholders to translate data into actionable insights that inform governance decisions, system improvements, and investment priorities.
  • Design and deliver digital skills, capacity‑building, and enablement programs to support effective, secure, and responsible use of Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Copilot.
  • Partner with departments, regions, and country offices to build role‑based digital skills aligned to real workflows, program needs, and operational contexts.
  • Develop learning pathways, job aids, and self‑service guidance that enable staff to confidently use digital tools within established governance guardrails.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal customers, translating platform capabilities into accessible, mission‑focused practices.
  • Promote responsible AI usage, data protection, and security awareness as part of all enablement activities.
