M&T GBU EPC Automation Manager

Bechtel Corporation,
$135,900 - $207,200Hybrid

About The Position

Bechtel is seeking an M&T GBU Automation Manager to provide functional leadership for the cross-functional deployment, configuration, integration, and support of the Bechtel EPC Application Portfolio across the Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Global Business Unit. The M&T GBU delivers complex, world-class capital projects supporting semiconductor manufacturing, advanced materials, electric vehicles, life sciences, and data center markets. This role is a senior functional leadership position responsible for ensuring the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup application toolset is deployed consistently, integrated across functions, and supported reliably at the GBU and project level. The M&T GBU Automation Manager owns the strategy and execution for standing up and sustaining the EPC application ecosystem — spanning Hexagon (e.g., Smart 3D, SDx, Caesar II), Autodesk (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D), Bechtel-developed applications, and the Bechtel Standard Application (BSAP) field suite (e.g., TeamWorks, WITS, Field Tech, Book Builder, Procore), alongside document management (Aconex), cost (Ecosys), and reporting (Power BI). The role defines the field support model, drives engineering–procurement–construction data integration and the digital thread, governs configuration standards, and partners with GBU leadership, PIIM, project functions, and software vendors to maximize productivity, data quality, and project delivery outcomes. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years of EPC project experience, with a strong understanding of cross-functional EPC work processes and the applications used for project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying, configuring, and supporting engineering and construction applications — proficiency across the Hexagon and/or Autodesk ecosystems and Bechtel Standard Applications (TeamWorks, WITS, Field Tech, Power BI, and related platforms).
  • Strong understanding of application integration, configuration management, and data interoperability requirements to enable cross-functional data integration and the digital thread.
  • Experience defining and operating technical support and training models across multidisciplinary, geographically distributed teams.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to influence without authority, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain new work processes and technologies to all levels of the organization and to external entities; demonstrates curiosity, self-learning, and complex problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional direction for the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of the EPC Application Portfolio across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Startup — including Hexagon (Smart 3D, SDx, Caesar II), Autodesk (ACC/BIM 360, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D), Bechtel-developed tools, and BSAP field applications (TeamWorks, WITS, Field Tech, Book Builder, Procore).
  • Prepare and oversee software deployment, configuration, maintenance, testing, and release plans for project automation tools, accounting for deployment methods (Bechtel-hosted, cloud/SaaS, and hybrid environments).
  • Establish project environment setup standards — role-based access control, naming conventions, file structures, templates, and workspace and data schema configuration — to ensure consistency and scalability across projects.
  • Drive integration of engineering, procurement, and construction data across the portfolio to enable a seamless digital thread from design through delivery and handover (e.g., ACC ↔ Smart 3D / SDx data exchange, tag and metadata alignment, version control, and data lineage).
  • Ensure application integration aligns to the Common Data Environment (CDE) and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 19650), and that data requirements, coding structures, and interfaces support each project’s execution plan.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction to ensure continuity and the appropriate level of data detail to support each project phase.
  • Define and operate the GBU field support model for the application portfolio, providing technical and administrative direction to development and support teams and ensuring rapid root-cause resolution of tool, interoperability, and environment issues.
  • Establish support tiers, service standards, and escalation paths; monitor application health, performance, and adoption across projects.
  • Develop and maintain application documentation; prepare and deliver training and Train-the-Trainer sessions for GBU and project SMEs and super users to drive adoption.
  • Define, maintain, and govern GBU-level standards, procedures, and configuration management for the application portfolio, including contractor and supplier compliance with automation standards.
  • Manage relationships with software vendors (e.g., Hexagon, Autodesk, Oracle) and internal IS&T to align licensing, roadmaps, integrations, and support.
  • Establish performance metrics, KPIs, and maturity benchmarks for deployment quality, support effectiveness, and data accuracy.
  • Champion an innovative culture and continuous improvement — continually seeking ways the application toolkit and automation can improve safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction, including AI/analytics readiness (e.g., structured engineering data for predictive clash detection, automated model validation, and digital twin analytics).
  • Provide functional support to projects, proposals, and pursuits related to EPC automation, application deployment, and field support models.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Optional disability and supplemental insurance options
  • Generous paid time off (160 hours annually, accrued 6.16 hours per pay period)
  • Nine paid holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Discretionary bonuses
  • 401K plan with matching and profit-sharing components
