About The Position

Join Barclays as an M&A Business Manager AVP, where you will have the chance to serve as a strategic partner to senior banking leadership, driving execution of business priorities while ensuring disciplined performance management across the M&A franchise. The role is responsible for overseeing financial tracking, pipeline governance, and revenue forecasting, delivering clear insights on business performance, and identifying opportunities for optimization. In your role, you will play a critical role in developing and enhancing business intelligence metrics to support forecasting, strategic planning, and decision-making. Acting as a catalyst for change, the position leads key transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and alignment with firm-wide objectives. In parallel, it ensures a robust governance framework by partnering with control functions to maintain regulatory compliance and a strong risk culture. The role also provides leverage to leadership through stakeholder coordination, market analysis, and preparation of executive materials, requiring strong collaboration, adaptability, and the ability to influence across global teams.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business management, strategy execution, or COO/Business Manager functions within Investment Banking, with strong understanding of M&A deal lifecycles and financial drivers
  • Advanced analytical and financial management skills, including revenue forecasting, pipeline tracking, budgeting, and performance analysis, with proficiency in building and delivering management information (MI)
  • Stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and collaborate effectively across global teams, including Finance, Compliance, and Front Office
  • Demonstrated experience leading business transformation or strategic initiatives that drive operational efficiency and scalability within a banking environment
  • Understanding of governance, risk, and control frameworks, with experience partnering with audit, compliance, or control functions in a regulated financial institution
  • Ability to synthesize market trends and competitive intelligence into actionable insights, supporting both short-term execution and long-term strategic planning

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with business and senior leadership to develop and implement business strategies that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaison between different business units and functions, fostering communication and collaboration.

  • Improvement of operational efficiency within the organisation including the identification of areas for improvement, streamlining of processes, and implementation of best practices to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
  • Development of performance reporting for key metrics that reinforce the strategic objectives of the division and support the external commitments made.
  • Involvement in aspects of financial analysis and budget management, including assistance in financial planning, forecasting, and monitoring of financial performance against targets.
  • Support to business heads in partnership with HR on hiring, workforce planning, joiner/mover/leaver actions.
  • Advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
