About The Position

The M&A Business Development Manager is a front-end origination role responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing acquisition opportunities aligned with Volaris’ long-term investment philosophy. This role focuses on relationship-led sourcing, engaging directly with founders, CEOs, and advisors of vertical market software businesses. This is not a traditional sales role and not private equity. Success comes from credibility, judgment, persistence, and the ability to clearly articulate why Volaris is a permanent, stable home for founder-led businesses.

Requirements

  • 3+ yrs of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or relationship-driven B2B business development
  • Strong interest in M&A, deal sourcing, and working directly with business owners
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce (or similar CRM), including pipeline tracking and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to build structure and improve processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing a business development team
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and business owners
  • High level of ownership, curiosity, and persistence
  • Ability to balance relationship-building with disciplined execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support identification and outreach to vertical market software businesses aligned with Volaris’ acquisition strategy
  • Initiate and build early-stage relationships with founders, CEOs, and advisors
  • Clearly and credibly represent Volaris’ long-term, buy-and-hold approach
  • Participate in industry events, targeted outreach, and research-driven sourcing efforts
  • Own and actively manage a pipeline of opportunities from initial contact through qualification
  • Conduct high-level assessments of businesses (market, product, financial profile, ownership)
  • Prepare concise summaries and insights to support internal discussions and decision-making
  • Build judgment over time on what makes a strong acquisition opportunity
  • Use Salesforce as the primary tool to track outreach, relationships, and pipeline progression
  • Maintain high-quality, consistent data and documentation across all opportunities
  • Leverage CRM data to improve targeting, follow-up, and conversion of opportunities
  • Contribute to reporting on pipeline activity, trends, and performance
  • Help develop and refine sourcing processes, outreach strategies, and pipeline management practices
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness across the BD function
  • Drive adoption of structured workflows and playbooks within the team
  • Balance structured execution with a relationship-driven approach
  • Work closely with senior M&A professionals to learn how opportunities are assessed and progressed
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, HR) as opportunities advance
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing BD team environment
  • Take ownership of your development as a future originator
  • Contribute to the evolution of sourcing strategy within the JEV Portfolio
  • Coach junior M&A or Business Development team members
  • Act as a thought partner to Portfolio and M&A leadership on market trends and sourcing effectiveness
