M&A Analyst

BlueThrone
Remote

About The Position

BlueThrone is seeking an M&A Analyst to join their Investment team. This role involves finding, evaluating, and acquiring mobile applications and complementary SaaS businesses. The analyst will build financial models, manage deal processes from start to finish, and contribute to the decision-making process for capital deployment. This is a core role within the investment engine, focusing on sourcing, evaluating, and modeling acquisition opportunities, with direct interaction with founders and the CIO. BlueThrone is a remote-first company that acquires apps with proven product-market fit and scales them into category leaders. The Investment team is crucial for identifying and executing these acquisitions.

Requirements

  • Build financial models from scratch (subscription cohort models, ad-monetized revenue builds, ROAS-based projections, SaaS metrics models, and blended acquisition models).
  • Evaluate acquisition targets by requesting data access, analyzing KPIs (LTV, CAC, retention, churn, ARPU), identifying risks, and forming an independent view on value.
  • Support Investment Committee preparation by structuring the investment thesis, building supporting materials, and contributing to presentations.
  • Meet with founders, conducting intro calls and deep-dive sessions.
  • Run deal processes by managing timelines, coordinating diligence work streams, and tracking deliverables.
  • Collaborate with investment, sourcing, product, and growth teams to assess post-acquisition optimization potential.
  • 2–4 years in investment banking, corporate finance, or a buy-side role with hands-on deal experience.
  • Understanding of the mobile app ecosystem, key metrics (MAU, DAU, retention curves, ARPU, LTV, CAC), and how mobile businesses operate.
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills, including building models from scratch and proficiency in DCF, LBO, and subscription/cohort-based models.
  • Strong accounting and finance fundamentals, including understanding the three statements, working capital adjustments, EV-to-equity bridges, and purchase price mechanics.
  • Founder-facing presence with the ability to build trust, ask sharp questions, and lead conversations.
  • Ability to hold a strong point of view, adapt to new information, and maintain productive conversations.
  • Bias to action with good judgment, knowing when diligence and precision are more important than speed.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to dig into data, find patterns, and pressure-test assumptions.
  • Strong communication skills, able to simplify complexity, write clearly, and present with confidence.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a constantly evolving environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building financial models for mobile app businesses, subscription cohorts, ad-revenue forecasts, or ROAS-based acquisition models.
  • Experience working with debt, including modeling debt structures and understanding leverage's impact on returns.
  • Experience with SaaS metrics (MRR, ARR, net revenue retention, churn, expansion revenue) and evaluating SaaS businesses.
  • Experience running or supporting end-to-end M&A processes from LOI through close.
  • Buy-side experience (PE, growth equity, venture, or corporate M&A).

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and execute on mobile app acquisitions as well as complementary and strategic SaaS acquisitions.
  • Take a lead from first look to Investment Committee recommendation, including requesting data, building models, stress-testing theses, and building a 'buy/don't buy' case.
  • Source deals and conduct founder meetings.
  • Manage end-to-end deal processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, growth, and monetization teams.
  • Shape how the company evaluates opportunities across partnerships and acquisitions.
  • Build and pressure-test investment cases, turning data into clear decisions on value, risk, and structure.
  • Upgrade modeling capabilities and templates, including cohort models, valuation tooling, scenario analysis, and IC-ready outputs.
  • Partner with sourcing, diligence, and operators to connect 'what we buy' to 'how we create value'.
  • Own timelines, push decisions forward, and ensure work is finished to a high standard.

Benefits

  • Remote-first company
  • Opportunity to present directly to Investment Committee
  • Equal opportunities for everyone
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Consideration for all candidates regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran status, neurodiversity, or disability.
  • Support for reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process.
