About The Position

Hospice of Wichita Falls is seeking an LVN to join their In Patient Center. The organization has been serving North Texas for over 40 years as a non-profit community-based hospice. They provide services in private homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and their 24-bed inpatient center. Hospice of Wichita Falls emphasizes teamwork, communication, and respect, aiming to provide premier care while honoring patient wishes. The role involves supporting staff in reviewing and revising Plans of Care, interacting with team members to provide emotional support to patients and families, and acting as backup for the Unit Clerk. The typical schedule is 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on an 84-hour block schedule.

Requirements

• Ability to be self-directed and function independently under direction of RN and carry out physician's orders in a manner that ensures patient safety.
• Ability to understand the physical, psychosocial and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families.
• Ability to assess, evaluate and perform the necessary clinical skills involved in providing nursing care to patients and jointly planning care and patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate understanding of disease process and expected changes.
• Ability to relate well with patients, families, community at large and health care professionals.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to be at work as scheduled and alert/awake.
• Ability to advance in computer knowledge.
• Demonstrate competency as defined.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that Plans of Care are reviewed and revised as needed.
• Interact with other members of the team to provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Promote and develop strengths.
• Act as back up when the Unit Clerk isn't available.
