About The Position

AKUA is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of California. New graduates are welcome to apply, provided they have passed the NCLEX. Experience in Mental Health, Detox/residential drug and alcohol treatment is preferred. The LVN will work under the supervision of the Clinical Director, maintaining professional standards and adhering to organizational treatment policies, as well as Joint Commission and Federal/State Laws and Regulations. Key responsibilities include managing all medication as ordered by medical staff, maintaining accurate medication records, ensuring the safekeeping of medication stock, and training clinical staff on medication-related procedures. The role also involves conducting detox assessments (CIWA, COWS, Vitals), completing medical documentation in the EMR, potentially performing urine collection and processing, and coordinating internal and external medical and lab appointments. Requirements

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of CA (LVN/LPN)
  • Passed NCLEX
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Current Health Screen
  • TB Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Maintains professional standards and follows the treatment policies of the organization, The Joint Commission and Federal/State Laws and Regulations.
  • Responsible for all medication as ordered by the Medical Director, Program Physician, and to maintain accurate accounting of all medication received (from supplier) and observed (to the patient).
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, JCAHO and ADP.
  • Responsible for training all clinical staff about medications, observation of medications, and medication destruction.
  • Responsible for all detox assessments including CIWA, COWS, Vitals, etc.
  • Responsible for all medical documentation in the EMR including all physician notes and medication orders.
  • May be responsible for urine collection and processing in conjunction with the clinical technicians, reading test results as ordered by Program Physicians and the completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
  • Responsible for coordinating all internal and external medical and lab appointments.
