The LVN Treatment Nurse (Wound Care) provides nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices, regulations, and directed by the Director of Nursing. This role involves leading or directing licensed and non-professional staff in the delivery of direct resident care and support functions. The position requires a working knowledge of infection control and wound care principles, with a focus on sterile and aseptic techniques. The nurse must understand the special needs of geriatric clients and their skin, maintain a high standard of personal hygiene, and provide comprehensive wound care, including bandaging, cleaning, and medication application. Responsibilities also include managing treatment supplies, providing specialized care such as gastrostomy tube feeding and colostomy/urostomy care, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role demands effective communication and collaboration with patients, families, healthcare team members, and therapists, as well as efficient time management and independent problem-solving. Adherence to facility guidelines, resident rights, and safety protocols is paramount.
