Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing (for LVN).
Previous experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting preferred (for LVN).
Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas (for LVN).
Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card required.
Must maintain a current vocational nursing license and CPR certification during employment (for LVN).

Medical Assistant experience, or CNA/EMT/PCT (or other comparable experience) providing direct patient care, beyond Activities of Daily Living, including experience taking manual vitals and giving medications and/or injections, or Graduate of a medical assistant program (for Medical Assistant).
Ability to administer medications & injections within scope of position within 90 days of hire (for Medical Assistant).
Knowledge of medical terminology (for Medical Assistant).

Nice To Haves

Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant (preferred for Medical Assistant).
Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately and completely reports and documents patient status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, and contacts with patients and other healthcare providers.
Refills medication following ARC refill protocols.
Rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs, and prepares patients for provider examinations.
Follows clinic protocols and directions from the nursing team leader or supervisor.
Performs diagnostic testing including EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings, with appropriate reporting and documentation.
Monitors inventory of medical and office supplies and equipment, ensuring proper stocking and that supplies are current and not expired. Orders supplies as needed.
Reviews Provider refill in basket and assists with daily medication refill requests using the ARC refill protocol.
Reviews EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
Cleans patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry. Ensures the laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens daily.
May assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after the exam.
Maintains equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc.).
Adheres to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
Maintains regular and dependable attendance.
Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company.
Works holiday shifts as required by Company policy.
Administers medications and injections (LVN).
Provides direct nursing care to patients and distributes medications and treatments under physician order (LVN).
Teaches and counsels patients and families concerning health assessment and care, including disease prevention and health maintenance (LVN).
May provide vaccine management, including ordering, monitoring usage/wastage, facilitating maintenance, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the Texas Vaccine for Children Provider Manual, and completing reportable documentation (LVN).
May facilitate the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the immunization program (LVN).
Calls patients and informs them of lab results (LVN).
Performs patient follow-up activities including laboratory results and diagnostics, appointments, referrals, medications, and call backs (LVN).
Participates in the orientation of new employees.
Provides patients with educational materials as directed (Medical Assistant).
Administers medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice (Medical Assistant).
Responsible for reviewing result notes in basket and calling/informing patients of normal lab results (Medical Assistant).
Reviews provider instructions regarding abnormal results (Medical Assistant).
