On Call Mental Health LVN
About The Position
The LVN / LPT provides direct client care including the administration of medications, including injections. Engages clients and families to determine physical health status. Formulates and implements an effective nursing care plan understanding psychiatric illness and its treatment as appropriate for Scope of Practice. Demonstrates an understanding of age-related development and other issues for the population(s). Facility & Setting: 16-bed residential facility offering a short-term, home-like environment. 24/7 intensive treatment is designed as an alternative to hospitalization or urgent care. Clinical Services: Comprehensive physical/psychological evaluations, mental health counseling, and case management. Skills & Transition: Life-skills and interpersonal training, paired with dedicated assistance for locating permanent housing.
Requirements
- Active, valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current First Aid certification from an approved agency (such as the American Red Cross).
- One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working in a program serving individuals with mental disabilities; OR Commitment to complete a minimum of 20 hours of regulatory on-the-job training within the first year of employment (this is in addition to standard annual training requirements).
Nice To Haves
- One (1) year of experience with medication administration.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
