About The Position

Under the general direction of the Crisis Center RN Manager, the Crisis Center LVN is responsible for providing nursing care to all individuals in the Crisis Center (involuntary extended observation unit and voluntary crisis residential unit). The position provides nursing care to individuals with a mental illness and/or a co-occurring substance use/abuse diagnosis along with individuals with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and intellectual or developmental disability. Duties include delivering nursing care as delegated by a RN or physician and determining the predictable healthcare needs of patients. Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, document, and evaluate nursing care provided to patients under the requirements of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Works closely with other staff in the Crisis Center to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Performs tasks as assigned by the Crisis Center RN Manager and/or Crisis Center designated psychiatrist. Works as needed Sunday-Saturday. The varied shifts are 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. 8:00am-5:00 p.m. Evening shift 5:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. with flexibility to meet program needs as requested by the RN Nursing Manager/Crisis Center Manager.

Requirements

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) from a one year college
  • Licensed in the State of Texas or temporary license and must obtain permanent license within 6 months of hire and present documentation of application process to the State Nursing board for Texas.
  • Compact license acceptable according to current Board of Nursing requirements.
  • 1 year of licensed nursing experience (not including clinical hours required for education)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of mental health/behavioral health experience is preferred.
  • Spanish speaking
