LVC Engineer (JFN)

PMAT•San Diego, CA
•$180,000 - $200,000•Onsite

About The Position

At PMAT, we work on mission-critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose. In this role, you’ll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense. About the role: PMAT is seeking an experienced Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Engineer to support the integration, execution, and evaluation of Joint Fires Network (JFN) and emerging Information Warfare capabilities across Navy, Joint, and Coalition operational environments. This role will bridge engineering, Fleet operations, experimentation, and exercise planning to ensure emerging capabilities are effectively integrated into Maritime Operations Centers (MOCs/OMIOCs) and broader Joint warfighting architectures. The candidate will work closely with NAVWAR program offices, Fleet organizations, Combatant Commands, engineering teams, operational planners, and senior leadership to plan and execute LVC events, evaluate capability performance, capture operational and engineering feedback, and inform future system development. The role requires strong technical and operational knowledge, an understanding of Joint Fires and targeting processes, and the ability to translate between engineering teams and operational warfighters.

Requirements

  • Strong experience supporting Live, Virtual, and Constructive environments, operational experimentation, test events, exercises, demonstrations, systems integration, or related technical activities.
  • Experience integrating complex software, networks, C2 systems, simulations, tactical systems, or other capabilities within distributed operational or test environments.
  • Experience supporting Navy, Joint, Department of War, Command and Control, Information Warfare, fires, targeting, or other mission-focused operational capabilities.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, executing, or assessing complex technical events involving multiple systems, organizations, and operational stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Joint Fires, targeting, operational planning, or Command and Control processes and how technical capabilities support operational mission execution.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams composed of engineers, scientists, IT specialists, program personnel, operational planners, and military end-users.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify integration issues, assess system and operational performance, and translate event results into actionable technical recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to bridge engineering, operational, programmatic, and leadership audiences.
  • Ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments involving evolving technologies, multiple organizations, complex dependencies, and rapidly changing operational requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • No dual citizenship
  • TS/(SCI Eligible) security clearance required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Joint Fires Network and its integration or operational application within Navy, Joint, or Combatant Command environments.
  • Experience supporting FLEX experimentation, Fleet Reps and Sets, CJADC2, JFN Lab Demonstrations, or similar Navy and Joint experimentation activities.
  • Experience supporting Maritime Operations Centers, Operational Maritime Information Operations Centers, Fleet staffs, or Fight from the MOC initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of Fires and Authorities, Joint targeting, maritime operational planning, and integration of Information Warfare capabilities into Joint mission processes.
  • Experience integrating live operational systems with virtual environments, constructive simulations, modeling and simulation capabilities, tactical networks, or distributed test environments.
  • Experience supporting NAVWAR, NIWC, Navy program offices, Fleet organizations, Combatant Commands, Joint Forces, or Coalition partners.
  • Experience coordinating with systems engineering or MBSE teams and translating operational scenarios, system interactions, interfaces, and LVC findings into architecture or engineering inputs.
  • Experience developing operational scenarios, exercise objectives, test plans, event architectures, data collection requirements, after-action products, or engineering feedback for LVC events.
  • Experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary technical teams during complex integration, experimentation, testing, or operational events.
  • Experience briefing Flag Officers, SES personnel, senior government leadership, or other executive audiences on technical integration, operational outcomes, risks, and capability recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, integrate, and support LVC environments and events involving JFN, Information Warfare, Command and Control, and other emerging Navy and Joint capabilities.
  • Support LVC activities across FLEX experimentation, Fleet Reps and Sets, Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2), JFN Lab Demonstrations, exercises, and other developmental or operational events.
  • Serve as a technical and operational liaison for JFN Fleet engagement by maintaining knowledge of emerging capabilities, communicating their operational application, and supporting effective integration and utilization within MOCs and OMIOCs.
  • Coordinate technical integration among live systems, virtual environments, constructive simulations, operational networks, C2 systems, and supporting infrastructure to enable representative and effective LVC events.
  • Support Joint Fires integration by applying knowledge of Fires and Authorities, Joint targeting processes, Information Warfare capabilities, and operational command structures to LVC scenarios and technical integration activities.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, IT specialists, program personnel, and operational users during LVC planning, integration, execution, troubleshooting, and post-event assessment activities.
  • Capture, analyze, and communicate technical and operational findings from LVC events, translating Fleet feedback, system performance, integration issues, and lessons learned into actionable engineering recommendations for NAVWAR program offices and development teams.
  • Support operational and exercise planning with Navy, Joint, National, and Coalition stakeholders by integrating emerging capabilities into representative mission scenarios and helping ensure operational personnel are prepared to employ those capabilities.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering and MBSE teams to incorporate LVC results, operational workflows, interfaces, system interactions, and Fleet feedback into future JFN and Joint network architecture development.
  • Develop and deliver technical briefings, event results, capability assessments, and integration recommendations to program leadership, Flag Officers, SES personnel, and other senior technical and operational stakeholders.
