About The Position

NetApp is seeking an Expert Engineer with deep Lustre experience to help deliver a production-grade Lustre solution for AI and HPC workloads. In this role, you will work on core Lustre components and system-level integrations that deliver high-performance, scalable, and reliable parallel file systems. You will contribute both to core Lustre functionality and to the surrounding system components (automation, packaging, HA frameworks) ensuring Lustre can be reliably deployed, managed, and supported at scale.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in distributed systems, storage systems, or filesystem development, including strong Lustre experience
  • Deep understanding of Lustre architecture and behavior in production environments
  • Strong systems programming skills (C, Linux), plus experience debugging across system boundaries
  • Proven ability to debug complex distributed system issues
  • Familiarity with HPC or AI infrastructure
  • Experience with performance tuning and benchmarking at the system level
  • Experience working with open-source development models and upstream communities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering and product teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or supporting productized storage or infrastructure solutions
  • Experience with HPC/AI file systems and storage stacks
  • Contributions to Lustre or other distributed storage systems
  • Experience building production-grade storage or infrastructure products
  • Background in large-scale system performance analysis or architecture

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement features that improve Lustre deployability, operability, and lifecycle management
  • Own and deliver production-quality features spanning Lustre + system integration layers
  • Participate in upstream Lustre development and integrate features into a curated, enterprise distribution
  • Debug and resolve complex issues in end-to-end Lustre deployments, including performance, failure handling, and configuration errors
  • Contribute to performance tuning and benchmarking for large-scale AI/HPC workloads
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, support, product) to deliver a complete solution
