About The Position

The Lunch Monitor serves in a pivotal role to provide a safe environment for all scholars. The Lunch Monitor helps ensure all policies, procedures and performance standards for Leman Academy and the food services program are being met on a daily basis under the direction of the site Principals. This role involves maintaining a safe and healthy environment for scholars and staff, complying with all applicable policies, rules and regulations, including those relating to safety, health, and child care. Responsibilities include prepping cafeterias and recess areas for lunch, as well as cleanup and maintaining stock of cleanup materials. The Lunch Monitor also helps implement the promotion of healthy eating habits and positive behavior during lunch/recess and communicates directly with the site Vice Principal and/or Principal on any discipline-related issues that occur within the lunch/recess areas. Additionally, this role involves developing and maintaining effective client, vendor, family, and community-based organizations relationships.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
  • CBI Fingerprint Clearance / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Food Handler’s Card.
  • Working Knowledge of best food handling, kitchen management, and safety practices.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact school community with an ability to build strong relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, vendors and build relationships.
  • Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment.
  • Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment; i.e. fax machine, copier, computer, etc.
  • Ability to lift boxes and packages of varying weights and move them to other locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Food Service experience preferred.
