About The Position

Leidos is seeking a talented Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Computer Engineer or similar Engineer to support the LTV program as a hardware test Engineer. This role is a core member of the team, supporting and executing the LTV program for NASA, which involves designing, building, and flying the next generation of crewed/remote-piloted/autonomous lunar surface vehicles. The engineer will support multiple tasks in parallel, productively contribute to and lead team environments, and communicate effectively with management, coworkers, and customers. The position requires self-motivation and high organization, with a focus on managing customer expectations and generating high-quality products that exceed stakeholder expectations. This dynamic opportunity supports the Test team, allowing talented engineers to thrive working alongside senior engineers on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects in the space systems arena.

Requirements

  • Capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering field, from an ABET accredited college or university with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Actively enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering field, from an ABET accredited college or university with completion prior to the start date
  • US Citizen.
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Ability to perform physical work such as lifting up to 30-lbs.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools.
  • Willing to work in-office in Huntsville, AL.
  • Resident or willing to relocate to North Alabama.
  • Ability to track multiple tasks and prioritize work independently.
  • Self-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues encountered.
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of office software (PowerPoint, Word, & Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PTC Creo or SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Knowledge or experience with software in the loop testing (SIL).
  • Knowledge or experience with hardware testing (functional and environmental testing).
  • Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering design and execution activities for hardware testing of LTV systems
  • Perform research on test methods and test requirements to identify appropriate test scope and pass/fail metrics
  • Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings for test hardware/equipment
  • Produce test plans and procedures for test events
  • Prepare documents and deliverables for Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and post testing reports
  • Work collaboratively with project team(s) to formulate innovative solutions to complex problems and products across a broad range of applications.
  • Support project team(s) across multiple disciplines with the completion of document deliverables
  • Develop and execute trade studies for the LTV program
