About The Position

The Lumper is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations by loading, unloading, handling, sorting, stacking, and organizing cargo and materials in a safe and efficient manner. This position plays an important role in maintaining an organized warehouse, ensuring the timely movement of goods, and supporting the successful execution of inbound and outbound shipments. The Lumper works closely with warehouse supervisors, forklift operators, drivers, and other team members to ensure cargo is handled properly, warehouse productivity is maintained, and company safety standards are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous warehouse, distribution, freight handling, loading/unloading, or material-handling experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform physical work in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, or holidays, as operational needs require.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment, may include varying temperatures, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to safely perform repetitive manual handling and stacking tasks.
  • Ability to remain alert and maintain awareness of surroundings in a busy warehouse environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or freight-handling environment.
  • Experience handling pallets, cartons, cargo, or other warehouse materials.
  • Familiarity with warehouse safety procedures and material-handling practices.
  • Experience using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment, where trained and authorized.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload cargo, freight, pallets, cartons, and other materials from trucks, trailers, containers, and designated warehouse areas.
  • Manually move, stack, sort, and organize products and materials according to established warehouse procedures.
  • Assist with the receiving and staging of inbound shipments and the preparation of outbound shipments.
  • Ensure cargo is properly positioned, secured, and arranged to prevent damage during handling and storage.
  • Assist with the breakdown and rebuilding of pallets, cartons, and other freight as required.
  • Verify cargo counts, labels, and shipment information as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Identify and report damaged, missing, or improperly labeled cargo to management.
  • Maintain organized and accessible warehouse storage areas.
  • Assist with inventory movement and other warehouse activities as assigned.
  • Support the timely completion of daily loading, unloading, and warehouse assignments.
  • Follow all company safety policies, warehouse procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, gloves, high-visibility vests, and other equipment as applicable.
  • Maintain awareness of pedestrians, moving equipment, forklifts, and other potential warehouse hazards.
  • Follow proper lifting, carrying, and material-handling techniques.
  • Immediately report unsafe working conditions, accidents, injuries, and damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Do not operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered equipment unless properly trained and authorized.
  • Participate in required safety meetings, training, and company compliance programs.
  • Work cooperatively with warehouse personnel, drivers, supervisors, and other departments to support efficient operations.
  • Follow instructions from the Warehouse Supervisor and complete assigned tasks within established timelines.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude with coworkers, management, customers, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to attendance.
  • Adapt to changing shipment volumes, operational priorities, and warehouse assignments.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
