About The Position

As our Lumber Lead, you’ll play an important role in the success of the Lumber Department. This role involves building strong, long-term relationships with customers, contractors, and members, while providing knowledgeable, friendly, and solution-focused customer service. The Lumber Lead is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department, including sales (inside and outside), marketing, production, project execution, deliveries, quality control, purchasing, and inventory management. The position also focuses on achieving department targets for sales, margin, and inventory, identifying opportunities for sales growth and new customer relationships, conducting market research and price comparisons, and providing direction, support, and coaching to Team Members. Additionally, the role involves assigning work, giving ongoing feedback, promoting the Co-op brand, maintaining high standards for merchandising and department presentation, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and environmental policies.

Responsibilities

  • Building strong, long-term relationships with customers, contractors, and our members.
  • Providing knowledgeable, friendly, and solution-focused customer service.
  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the Lumber Department along with scheduling, including sales (inside sale/outside sales) and Marketing, production, project execution, deliveries, quality control, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Working toward sales, margin, inventory, and other department targets.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow sales and develop new customer relationships.
  • Completing market research and price comparisons to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Providing direction, support, and coaching to Team Members.
  • Assigning work and providing ongoing feedback to help Team Members succeed.
  • Promoting the Co-op brand and maintaining high standards for merchandising and department presentation.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety and environmental policies and procedures are followed.
