About The Position

This role relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job, working under immediate supervision. The Lumber Grader will grade and sort softwood SPF and SYP in accordance with third-party TP/SPIB inspection requirements, move and secure lumber products and other materials, and stack finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements. Responsibilities also include labeling material based on type, size, and count, applying individual tags before/after treating/production, using a staple gun, and troubleshooting equipment. The role involves banding, bundling, and securing material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks, and following instructions for proper stacking according to company policy and customer requirements. The Lumber Grader will ensure correct quantities and material are strapped and labeled before leaving the work area, maintain accurate inventory of tags, and report any problems or discrepancies to the supervisor. Additionally, they will record production on production sheets, maintain a clean and organized work area, assist other work areas with moving and loading/unloading material carts, and participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma/GED is preferred but not required.
Certification in lumber grading preferred, however non-certified graders will be considered if already in process of training and can be certified
No minimum experience is required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred
1-2 years of related experience in lumber grading is preferred
Working knowledge of basic math preferred

Responsibilities

Stacks finished products according to predetermine bundle sizes and/or customer requirements
Labels material based on type, size and count, and following specifications

Uses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipment
Bands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks
Follows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements
Ensures correct quantities and material are strapped, labeled before leaving the work area
Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisor
Records production on production sheets
Maintains a clean and organized work area
Assist other work areas moving material, loading and unloading material carts
Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
