About The Position

As a Technician I, you will assist in providing accurate and efficient service to customers by performing basic maintenance, lube, tire, diagnostic, and repair services on heavy-duty trucks and trailers under the guidance of experienced technicians. This entry-level position is designed for individuals beginning their careers in diesel mechanics who are eager to learn, develop their technical skills, and gain hands-on experience in a professional truck service environment.

Requirements

  • A motivated individual who is eager to learn and work well with others.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and a willingness to develop diesel and technical skills.
  • Interest in heavy-duty trucks, diesel equipment, automotive repair, or mechanical work.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools and shop equipment.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions as needed.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Successfully pass a full criminal background check.
  • Successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Successfully pass an insurability check.
  • Successfully complete a required DOT physical.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a supportive, team-oriented environment focused on exceeding customer expectations.
  • Gain hands-on experience working on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
  • Learn and perform routine truck service, preventive maintenance, lube, and tire services under supervision.
  • Assist with oil and filter changes, fluid checks, lubrication services, and other basic preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with tire inspections, tire removal and installation, tire rotations, and tire-related services as trained.
  • Learn proper tire mounting, balancing, inflation, and safe tire-handling procedures under the direction of experienced technicians.
  • Assist with basic brake inspections and service as directed and within your level of training.
  • Assist with basic inspections and identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components.
  • Perform basic diagnostic tasks and repairs within your capabilities under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Assist with diagnosing wear conditions and making recommendations to customers under supervision.
  • Follow Truck Service Standard Services and specialized customer programs.
  • Properly use hand tools, shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, and other tools as trained.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety guidelines and promptly report potentially unsafe situations.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation as required.
  • Work cooperatively with technicians, team members, and customers.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, sensitivity, and respect when working with a diverse population.
