About The Position

The Lube Technician Team leader is responsible for the daily supervision and coaching of the Lube Technicians. The Lube Technician Lead is also responsible for diagnosing and performing quality light mechanical services on customer and inventory vehicles with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and manufacturer/factory standards.

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to listen to customers and determine how to assist them.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and repair processes for light mechanical services.
  • Outstanding attention to detail with a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to use technical reference materials and technical manuals in written and online formats.
  • Ability to communicate technical terms to non-technical audience.
  • Ability to follow processes to ensure quality and safety.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize.

Nice To Haves

  • Brand knowledge is preferred, but not required.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and two year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ASE Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily supervision and coaching of Lube Technicians.
  • Diagnosing and performing quality light mechanical services on customer and inventory vehicles with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Comply with all manufacturer standards of quality and timeliness for repairs and maintenance work.
  • Ensure that all estimates and work orders are accurate.
  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations that affect shop operations, such as handling and disposal of hazardous waste, OSHA, and use of safety and health personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure the team is motivated and trained, set goals based on individual skill levels, and maintain a positive environment to promote employee morale.
  • Train, supervise and motivate a team.

  • Communicate technical information regarding customer vehicles to Service Advisors.
  • Use technical reference materials and technical manuals in written and online formats.
  • Communicate technical terms to non-technical audience.
