About The Position

Heart of Florida Landfill, a Waste Connections site in Lake Panasoffkee, FL (Sumter County) has an immediate position open for a Maintenance Fuel Operator to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of garbage trucks and heavy equipment machines. Individuals with 1+ years experience working on heavy diesel trucks or those that have completed a Diesel Technology program are encouraged to apply. This is a Monday through Friday position with 40 to 50 hours a week and some Saturday work.

Requirements

Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.

Nice To Haves

1+ year experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair or completion of a diesel tech program
Good attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic

Responsibilities

Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Performs maintenance related work as required.
Performs inspections, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
