About The Position

The LTL Load Planner is directly responsible for planning and routing less-than-truckload (LTL) orders into efficient, multi-stop truckloads. This is a highly analytical transportation planning role within operations, responsible for meeting customer delivery expectations while working within DOT Hours of Service (HOS) requirements and achieving company goals for asset utilization and lane profitability. The Load Planner works closely with dispatch, customers, and logistics to coordinate shipments, optimize trailer utilization, manage orders, and resolve delivery exceptions.

  • 2 years of transportation/logistics industry experience preferred
  • Experience with LTL load planning in dry or refrigerated transportation preferred
  • Previous experience planning multi-stop truckloads preferred
  • Refrigerated logistics experience preferred
  • Understanding of DOT Hours of Service (HOS) requirements
  • Transportation Management System (TMS) experience
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and route multi-temperature LTL shipments into efficient multi-stop truckloads
  • Work closely with dispatch, customers, and logistics throughout the planning and delivery process
  • Schedule and track pickup and delivery appointments
  • Manage orders and maintain accurate order and load statuses within the Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Monitor loads and resolve delivery exceptions, delays, and customer inquiries
  • Communicate load delays and exceptions to shippers and receivers
  • Maintain customer KPI scorecards
  • Analyze load margins, load factors, asset utilization, and lane profitability
  • Provide temperature requirements for each trip
  • Understand trailer utilization and loading requirements, including weight distribution
  • Collaborate with team members regarding driver needs and weekly planning
  • Plan loads in accordance with DOT Hours of Service (HOS) requirements
