About The Position

The LTD Claims Consultant is responsible for the day-to-day execution to drive delivery of key metric results while increasing claim management accuracy and service delivery. The LTD Claims Consultant will develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement by identifying root causes, problem-solving, identifying solutions to improve performance and innovation. This is a mobile position with preference given to candidates within commuting proximity to a Guardian office with the ability to travel to Guardian offices as determined by the People Leader.

  • Ability to mentor/coach staff and peers to ensure proper claim adjudication and contribute to staff development

  • Self-motivated
  • Extensive knowledge of Group Long Term disability products, administration and claims procedures
  • Strong knowledge of PC Applications (including Microsoft Office, databases, imaging systems, etc.)
  • Superior working knowledge of the financial, medical, occupational, and investigative aspects of disability claims management
  • Excellent PC skills with knowledge of MS Word/Excel/PPT
  • 3+ years LTD claims handling experience, prior DI experience or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 1 year experience providing feedback to front line staff and front-line supervisors.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, without the need for employer sponsorship/support now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Support to Claim Teams including Claim Auth reviews, serve as SME on complex issues
  • Drive improvements in initial claim decision, Claim Management Accuracy and & CID turnaround times
  • Leverage automation and/or alternate sourcing options to handle additional tasks
  • Collaborate with all lines of business to promote best practices to improve efficiency
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert to support timely and effective delivery of Workstream Initiatives
