Raytheon is seeking a talented and motivated Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) to join our team within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Discipline supporting the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) Program. The LTAMDS LSE (Associate Director, Systems Engineering) will be joining the LTAMDS-GE Department and will be an integral part of the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) where they will be the principal arbiter of Systems requirements and design. The LSE supports the OCE to ensure technical execution and system compliance with contractual requirements. Every day will bring new challenges, requiring you to collaborate across disciplines to troubleshoot issues, perform data analysis, and implement solutions. Your contributions will directly impact the success of mission-critical defense systems, and you'll have a hands-on role in ensuring the entire system functions seamlessly.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in related Systems Engineering or Multi-Disciplined Engineering
  • Experience effectively leading multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals
  • Radar or sensor systems experience preferred but not required
  • Integration/test or sustainment background strongly valued
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Self-starter – proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action
  • Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings
  • Excellent communication skills with prior experience presenting to customers and senior leadership
  • Experience defining clear, testable requirements or change requests
  • Familiar with configuration control and release processes
  • Experience in schedule development, action item management, requirement change management and overall development and progress metrics
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Experience working with external customers; including USG, or FMS partners
  • EVMS Certified (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge navigating the organization and working with stakeholders across the company to develop solutions to key program challenges
  • Technical leadership and guidance of multi-disciplined teams in the design and development of system requirements and design.

Responsibilities

  • Works across all IPT/CPTs, and across contracts in support of Development, Production, and Sustainment.
  • Coordinates across HW, SW, test capabilities to ensure interface integrity and design cohesion.
  • They are key participants in platform/SoS integration.
  • Matures concepts into an optimal solution balancing performance against objectives and constraints; is responsible for system requirements verification (FCA/SVR) and supports the sell-off of the product
  • Works with the Chief Engineer (CE) to support the capability thread leads for technical execution and integration of the program
  • Works with the CE and the various capability thread leads to provide, guide and mature the technical capabilities (EP, NCTR, ABT/TBM, 360 etc.) into optimal solutions
  • Shapes Tech Baseline strategy through collaborative engagements intended to mature system capability across contracts and proposals
  • The LTAMDS LSE along with the CE of the program is in constant communication with the Program Office and the US Govt. in maturing solutions and getting it to the field quickly (to support customer needs)
  • Oversee and ensure alignment between LTAMDS and Ghosteye for architecture, performance and requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and coordination
  • Coordinate closely with the Program Manager regarding budget and schedule
  • Guide and direct other engineering team leads to achieve program and technical success
  • Coordinate, write, and deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers
