About The Position

Our work is to educate the SF State community on their legal rights, helping students access information and connecting them with legal resources when confronted with stressful issues. The Legal Resource Center staff is dedicated to providing access to legal resources and opportunities that will further student’s educational goals. Our staff refer students to local Bay Area Legal Aid organizations and assist with researching and presenting information with the goal to increase awareness on specific legal topics. We provide semester long internships for students who are interested in law. The AS Legal Resource Center (LRC) does not provide legal advice and does not establish or create a client-attorney relationship or any representation with any student(s) seeking legal resources.

Requirements

  • Current students at SFSU enrolled in at least 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.
  • Successful completion of at least one semester of the LRC volunteer program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a legal office environment desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director with planning and coordinating a minimum of three (3) LRC workshops/events per semester.
  • Requests marketing materials, flyers, special giveaways, and schedules meetings with graphic designers; follows up with any marketing requests.
  • Supervises the internship application and recruitment, schedules training with legal experts, maintains the intern log in hours per semester.
  • Assists Director in maintaining Law Library by updating books/resources and keeping abreast of new issues and changes in the law.
  • Assists with the in-take process and follows up with clients after an in-take is completed to email referral list within the designated time.
  • Oversees the Program’s Internship by tracking intern hours and supporting with onboarding and end of semester intern recognition.
  • Promotes student support services through marketing and outreach.
  • Supports with design and social media requests to create marketing materials for annual and outreach events.
  • Contributes to and submits written monthly and annual reports to Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by the LRC supervisors.
