About The Position

This is a Day Shift Position at Jasper General Hospital. The LPN will monitor resident conditions, notify appropriate personnel of changes, and communicate with families. The role requires knowledge of medication usage, emergency procedures, and the ability to respond promptly to emergencies and alarms. The LPN will follow RN instructions for resident care, document medications and procedures, and transcribe physician orders. Communication with other departments, assisting residents with daily living activities, and checking vital signs are also key responsibilities. The LPN will conduct rounds, investigate accidents, report discrepancies, and requisition medications and supplies. Additionally, the LPN will communicate policy and safety concerns for Quality Assurance and supervise nursing assistants.

Requirements

  • Ability to monitor resident condition and notify RN Supervisor, charge nurse, and/or physician promptly of changes in resident conditions.
  • Knowledge of the intended use and negative reactions of medications ordered for residents.
  • Awareness of emergency procedures of this facility in the event of cardiac arrest, diabetic reactions, airway obstruction, respiratory arrest/distress, seizures, head injuries, and fractures.
  • Ability to document medications, procedures, and resident condition per facility protocol.
  • Ability to receive verbal and phone orders from physicians/nurse practitioner and transcribe accordingly.
  • Competent in checking vital signs and documentation/reporting.

  • Ability to assist residents with activities of daily living when needed, including personal care, transfer, eating, and elimination.
  • Ability to communicate the needs of resident to other departments when necessary.
  • Ability to supervise care given by nursing assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor resident condition and notify RN Supervisor, charge nurse, and/or physician promptly of changes in resident conditions.
  • Notify sponsor/next of kin according to facility protocol.
  • Respond promptly to all emergencies.
  • Respond promptly and investigate all alarms on unit.
  • Follow instructions given by the RN for resident care.
  • Document medications, procedures, and resident condition per facility protocol.
  • Receive verbal and phone orders from physicians/nurse practitioner and transcribe accordingly.
  • Communicate the needs of resident to other departments when necessary.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living when needed, including personal care, transfer, eating, and elimination.
  • Check vital signs and documentation/reporting.
  • Make rounds on assigned unit per facility protocol.
  • Investigate all accidents and complete required forms/documentation.
  • Report all discrepancies found with a medication, treatment plan, and physician orders.
  • Requisition medications and supplies to ensure adequate supply.
  • Communicate policy and safety concerns to RN or Administration for Quality Assurance purposes.
  • Supervise care given by nursing assistants.
