About The Position

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, a 116-bed community hospital located in Hartsville, SC, is seeking an LPN to provide direct patient care in the clinical setting under the supervision and delegation of a Registered Nurse. Requirements

  • Must be flexible, able to work as needed for appropriate departmental coverage.
  • Basic computer knowledge; ability to become proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates proficient time management skills.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Graduate of an accredited program for licensed vocational/practical nurses.
  • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse License.
  • BLS Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Intravenous Therapy and Blood Certifications preferred.
  • ACLS may be required in certain care areas.
  • Some experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts professionally with patients/families, treating them with respect and dignity.
  • Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
  • Effectively and appropriately communicates with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence.
  • Provides direct patient care, consults with nursing staff/providers as required, and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated.
  • Assesses and reassesses pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of lab requirements and requisitions.
  • Collects a baseline summary of a patient’s medical history, including checking and recording vital signs.
  • Maintains accurate and continued documentation for all assessments, treatments, and evaluations performed, ensuring documentation meets current standards and policies.
  • Makes decisions that reflect knowledge of facts, diseases/surgical conditions, required care, and good judgment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the patient life span and provides age-appropriate care.
  • Interprets data about the patient’s status to identify and meet age-specific needs.
  • Applies principles of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
  • Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medications and IV fluids and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Assists with the establishment of a plan of care that is appropriate to identified problems and involves the patient according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation.
  • Assists other nursing staff with the delivery of nursing care.
  • Consults with other providers as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Coordinates patient services with referring physician/facility.
  • Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice.
